Recorded in 1967, here are two of the big name callers of the day, Bob Page and Frank Lane. Both started calling in 1949 and both were successful full-time traveling callers. This is an excellent snap-shot of square dancing in 1967 - the calls used, the music played, style and speed of calling. These were two of the best.

Released in March 1962 for dancer's home practice. While only twenty calls are used (the basic of MWSD at the time), they are put together in challenging combinations. Marshall Flippo's presentation is excellent and shows how he had evolved as a caller from his previous album.

This episode is an encore featuring Blue Star Records 1001, the first long-play album featuring Marshall Flippo.
Released in June 1961 and an excellent representation of the square dance music, calls, and style of the time. For today's dancer, you may notice there are none of the "Ocean Wave" calls that are so popular today. The pace of dancing is a bit quicker and is true "wind-in-your-face" dancing. Marshall Flippo was the master of moving dancers smoothly from call to call.
